What is Karak Chai?
Karak chai is a slow-simmered, full-bodied spiced tea born in the Arabian Gulf and rooted in the hospitality traditions of South Asia. The word karak means "strong" in Urdu and Hindi — a fitting name for a tea brewed with bold black leaves, fresh cardamom, and evaporated milk until it turns deep caramel and richly aromatic. At Karak House, we honor that ritual. Every cup is hand-brewed to order, never pulled from a machine, and finished with the small details that make a difference: a pinch of saffron, a crack of fresh cardamom, the right ratio of milk to tea. It is a drink meant to be shared slowly — a reason to sit, to talk, and to feel at home.

816 W El Camino Real sits in the Civic Square center on West El Camino Real (State Route 82), directly across from Sunnyvale City Hall and the Civic Center, with ample surface parking right at the door. Washington Park is a short walk north and Las Palmas Park is just south. We're five minutes from downtown Sunnyvale, Murphy Avenue, and the Sunnyvale Caltrain station, about ten minutes from Cupertino and Mountain View, and fifteen minutes from downtown Palo Alto, Santana Row, and North San Jose.
